WAKE
UP AMERICA!! A case of the punishment not fitting the
crime!
Its
good that the national news has finally picked this up. This guy
deserves to spend the next 20 years in prison and instead he
gets a month. He raped a 14 year old student who later committed
suicide. Teachers all
over the nation are preying on our kids naivety about sex and
its social and emotional consequenses. We throw the book at a 16
year old boy who has sex with his 15 year old girlfriend and
brand him a rapist and
sex offender. Yet when a teacher has sex with a student we call
it a "minor crime" that doesn't warrant serious prison time. For
me, there is nothing that makes my skin crawl more than when a
teacher, a person who I trust to care for and guide my child,
takes advantage of that trust for their own sick gain. All over
Facebook I see photos that my friends are posting of their kids
going off to school this year and I cannot help but to wonder
what the probability is that one of them is going to be
mistreated by a teacher? Now I should clarify that I DO NOT lump
all teachers together in this and I am 100% supportive of
education. The vast majority of teachers out there are fantastic
and underpaid for the work they do. These bad apples are giving
our good teachers a bad rap. But we need to demand that our
government better fund our education system so we can get the
best minds to teach our kids and keep the sickos out. Second, we
need to start treating these predators like the animals that
they are and send them to prison. If you slap the wrist you are
telling them its no big deal and this sentence is a slap on the
wrist! Do me a favor, go to Google and type in a search for
"teacher has sex with student" and press go. Then click on the
images button. This will bring up images of all of the stories
around the nation where a teacher has had sex with a student.
The sheer number of different images will give you an idea of
how often this is happening. This is a serious problem in this
country and we as parents need to show that we will not tolerate
this!
